Belgian canals

Just by my fabulous new maison is the best patch of water in Bruxelles - the lovely canal.
Bruxelles really needs a river and you can't really call that dried up trickle of ex-Senne that squelches under Place St Gery a proper river, can you?
Not like the Danube in Bratislava and Budapest, or the Volga, Don, Tisza, Váh etc etc....
Uncannily, Bruxelles sometimes really resembles Eastern Europe circa 1986, especially some parts of my new 'hood, Anderlecht.
This is not a bad thing, just unusual, when it's supposed to be the heart of EU-land and all.
